Week 8 Blog

Pride is something that I think most people don’t recognize when they are struggling with it until things start to go negatively in their life and humble them. We saw this over and over again in the book of Mormon. Whenever things started going well people start to think they are doing it all themselves and then God humbles them sometimes to the point of ruin. Its important that we always keep our pride in check so that we don’t need to be humbled too much. My wife and I experienced this just recently.

I have been struggling to find work for the past few months, I have the occasional remote work and sometimes a few weeks in a studio but as a couple we decided that it would be best for us if I started school again and changed career course to something that would ideally be more stable then the film industry. So, we scaled back our expenses and got to the point that we could live off of one income so that I could focus on school. We had a good routine going for the first month of classes until about two weeks ago. My wife had been having issues with her manager and it had gotten too the breaking point and she was told that there was a good chance she would be let go soon. We realized that we had become content and not keeping up with our church activities. We made it a point to pray multiple times a day and make it to church instead of travelling on weekends.

I was able to pick up work as a back up in case she was let go and didn’t have a chance to get another job and she was blessed with a lot of opportunity’s with job interviews. She received 3 offers after two weeks of looking and will be starting a job that is hopefully a better fit for her in a few weeks. We were very blessed with our luck at how quickly things worked out for us. We were able to quickly humble our selves and put our situation fully into Gods hands. I am very grateful that my wife has enough faith in the gospel that she immediately turned towards our heavenly father when we hit a crisis.
